About American College of Greece First Year Abroad Program Program

Study your first year abroad at the American College of Greece (ACG), the oldest and largest U.S. accredited university in Europe, located in the heart of Athens. This program allows you to complete your first-year coursework while immersed in one of the world's most historically rich cities, then transfer your credits back to your home institution.

ACG's campus offers exceptional facilities including a FIFA-certified soccer field and Olympic-sized pool, providing a vibrant student life experience alongside rigorous academics. You'll choose from over 80 courses across all majors and disciplines—whether you're interested in business and economics, computing and mathematics, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, or visual and performing arts. The curriculum is specifically designed for first-year students and helps you work toward your degree goals while earning transferable credits.

You'll live in cohort-shared apartments centrally located near campus, giving you easy access to Athens's incredible cultural offerings. During your first six weeks, you'll receive weekly academic advising to help you adjust to the new learning environment, navigate culture shock, and integrate socially with your peers. The program includes cultural activities and excursions—from exploring the Acropolis and its museum to visiting the War Museum, enjoying Glyfada beach, and experiencing authentic Athenian life.

The program fee covers tuition, official transcripts, housing with internet, cultural activities, airport reception, in-country orientation, local team support, international insurance, 24/7 emergency assistance, mental health support, and career resources. You'll be responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, and travel insurance, though WorldStrides provides budgeting worksheets to help you plan. Whether you're pursuing business, liberal arts, sciences, or arts, this program offers an unparalleled opportunity to earn your first-year credits in one of Europe's most dynamic and historically significant cities while building a global perspective.
