About Australia Cultural Exchange Program Program
Experience authentic Australian life through Campus Education's Cultural Exchange program, where you'll immerse yourself in the Australian lifestyle while attending local high schools across New South Wales and South Australia. Choose between a short 4-12 week summer program (July/August) or semester/year-long options that align with Australia's school year (late January to mid-December). You'll stay with carefully selected host families in residential or rural areas, many with swimming pools and pets, giving you genuine insight into how Australians live and their warm, friendly culture.
Your school experience mirrors that of local Australian students. You'll attend classes from 9:00am to 3:00pm, with English as the only compulsory subject—allowing you to choose your other courses based on your interests. At least one afternoon weekly is dedicated to sports, with inter-school competitions offering chances to compete alongside Australian peers. School meals are typically brought from home, though canteen facilities are available. You'll be part of an active, outdoor-focused community where sports and outdoor activities are central to the lifestyle.
If you're an elite athlete, the Sports High School program offers an intensive alternative: train 2 hours daily with international coaches in soccer, football, tennis, rugby, basketball, or netball while attending regular high school classes. This combination allows you to develop athletically while earning academic credit in an Australian setting.
Your experience includes an orientation camp featuring visits to iconic Sydney landmarks like the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, introducing you to Australia's natural beauty and urban culture. Host families are active, outgoing people with good humor who embrace international students as family members. While you'll have household responsibilities like cleaning your room and helping with chores, you'll gain independence and genuine family bonds.
Australia's vast landscape and spread population mean long-distance travel is part of the culture—your host family will likely share outdoor adventures and regional explorations with you. The program provides access to comprehensive support including insurance options, scholarship opportunities, and a structured application and payment process. This is your chance to experience not just a new school system, but an entirely different way of living, where outdoor recreation, family time, and a relaxed lifestyle define daily life.
