Contribute to the local community while immersing yourself in the dynamic culture and natural beauty of Cape Town, South Africa. Our dedicated team will connect you with a local organization aligned with your interests and goals—whether you're passionate about primary education, special education, family and youth development, or public health. You’ll serve alongside community members and complete integrated coursework designed to foster reflection, build intercultural skills, and deepen your understanding of the social issues facing South Africa today.
From the moment you land to the day you leave, our team is here for you. You’ll be greeted at the airport and supported by our experienced on-site staff throughout your stay. Whether you need help navigating life abroad or just want local recommendations, we’re here to ensure your study abroad experience is safe, supported, and unforgettable.
We'll help you make the most of your time abroad with immersive excursions and interactive activities throughout your program. We'll also host an in-depth orientation when you arrive to help you navigate the city, university, and your new home – all included in your program. Whether you're exploring Robben Island and the Langa Township, spotting wildlife in the Aquila Game Reserve, or joining Cape Town’s First Thursdays arts and culture events, this program blends real-world engagement with immersive discovery.

Cape Town offers a variety of service-learning opportunities for anyone interested in working with local education centers and schools or aiding human rights organizations and family development centers. Use your skills to assist local organizations serving the needs of their local communities while learning firsthand about this diverse city’s history and culture.
**Local Primary Schools**
Education
Language Requirement: English (High Advanced)
These religious primary schools cater to children ages 6-14 from primarily Coloured and Black Communities. They strive to accommodate the needs of all learners and provide quality education based on a proud tradition of service. Participants in this role may help with after-school care, assist students with homework, tutor students in subjects such as math and English, and serve as teaching assistants in classrooms.

**School for Children with Disabilities**

Language Requirement: English (Advanced)
Offering a mainstream curriculum for learners with physical disabilities, this school was founded in 1974 for children in Xhosa-speaking communities of the Cape townships. Participants may assist in the following areas: administrative duties, coaching sports or leading other activities, supervising students during lunch and recreation times, classroom assistance, and more depending on interests and skills.

These organizations drive social change in South Africa by empowering young learners from vulnerable communities. Their volunteer and peer-to-peer programs encourage enrollment into tertiary education and skill-building for future employment.
