About Global Ambassador Program Program
The Global Ambassador Program is a paid professional development opportunity designed for college students who have completed a WorldStrides study abroad program and want to share their international experience with peers on their home campus. As a global ambassador, you'll earn $15 per hour for in-person activities while also receiving a grant applicable to future WorldStrides higher education travel programs, creating a dual benefit that supports both your immediate income and future study abroad aspirations.
In this role, you'll become the voice of study abroad at your university, connecting directly with students curious about international education. Your typical semester activities include hosting information tables at study abroad fairs, presenting to student organizations and classes, creating promotional materials, sharing your story through blogs and social media content, conducting one-on-one advising sessions with interested peers, and participating in virtual WorldStrides events. The program requires a minimum commitment of five hours of work per semester, making it flexible enough to fit around your academic schedule while still providing meaningful professional experience.
This opportunity is ideal for developing workplace competencies that employers value: leadership, communication, organization, public speaking, content creation, and critical thinking. You'll work collaboratively with fellow global ambassadors and staff at your university's study abroad office, building a professional network that extends across WorldStrides' national ambassador community. The program includes structured training to help you manage logistics efficiently and focus on building genuine connections with other students.
If you excel in this role, you may be promoted to senior ambassador, where you'll mentor other ambassadors, curate campus events, and support higher-level WorldStrides initiatives. Many global ambassadors have leveraged this experience to launch careers in international education, landing positions at study abroad offices, international organizations, and WorldStrides itself. Whether you're exploring international education as a career path or simply want to build your resume while staying connected to the study abroad community, this program offers a practical, paid way to extend your global education impact at home.
