About Host universities Program
This page presents information about two host universities for USAC study abroad programs in London, England, rather than describing a single unified program. The University of Roehampton, a public institution of approximately 12,000 students ranked #1 modern university in London, offers January and Summer programs. Located in southwest London near Wimbledon and Hammersmith, the university's 54-acre parkland campus combines a friendly, quiet residential environment with convenient access to London's attractions—most are just 45 minutes away. The university's unique structure reflects its historic roots in four teacher training colleges established in the 1800s: Digby Stuart College, Froebel College, Southlands College, and Whitelands College. Today, each college maintains its own academic focus and accommodations while benefiting from shared central management, campus facilities, and support services. The institution offers six undergraduate schools/faculties including Arts, Business and Law, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life and Health Sciences, and Psychology, with two schools participating in the January program and four in the summer program. You'll find modern facilities including on-campus student accommodation and one of London's best libraries.
London Metropolitan University (London Met), with around 12,500 students, serves as the host institution for semester and yearlong programs. This diverse, urban institution has earned top marks from the U.K.'s Quality Assurance Agency, with nearly two-thirds of its research output judged world-leading or internationally excellent according to the Research Excellence Framework. London Met operates two campuses in central London: the North campus in Islington focuses on humanities, social sciences, computing, mathematics, and natural sciences and is within three minutes of the Emirates Stadium; the City campus in Aldgate specializes in art, architecture, and design, positioned between London's international finance district and creative community. Students benefit from excellent facilities including the recently refurbished Learning Centre on Holloway Road and the Superlab, a cutting-edge science facility with over 280 workstations. Both universities provide immersive London experiences with access to world-class cultural institutions, markets, galleries, theaters, and dining options that define contemporary British city life.
