About Intensive Spanish Language – Universidad de Belgrano Program

If you want to accelerate your Spanish in one of South America's most dynamic cities, this intensive month-long program at Universidad de Belgrano (UB) in Buenos Aires, Argentina is designed for you. Over four weeks, you will enroll in a single intensive Spanish language course—at the intermediate, high intermediate, or advanced level—taught entirely in Spanish by experienced Argentinian faculty. Before you arrive, you will complete an online placement exam to ensure you are placed in the course that best matches your current proficiency. Classes are held alongside other international students, creating a richly multilingual and collaborative environment where the target language is your constant companion.

Academically, the program is rigorous and structured. Each course level covers progressive communicative skills—from narrating past events and expressing hypothetical situations to argumentation and formal academic writing—while weaving in deep dives into Argentine culture, history, and society. Topics range from indigenous peoples of Argentina and immigration waves to human rights, democracy, and the works of Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar, and Gabriel García Márquez. The program carries 7 recommended U.S. semester credits (10.5 quarter units), based on 108 U.S.-adjusted contact hours, and UB will provide an official transcript to support credit transfer at your home institution.

Buenos Aires itself is an extraordinary classroom. Located in the charming Belgrano neighborhood, UB's urban campus sits among parks, embassies, and residential streets, just a short subway or bus ride from the city center. Your program includes curated cultural excursions and activities—learn to tango, visit the Museo Evita, explore the Feria de Mataderos, participate in an Argentine cooking class, and master the art of yerba mate. An in-depth orientation upon arrival will help you navigate the city, the university, and your new neighborhood with confidence.

You will have multiple housing options to suit your preferences and budget: a fully furnished apartment shared with other international students, a homestay with an Argentine family (including two meals a day and laundry service), a student residence with shared common spaces and weekly cleaning, or independent housing if you prefer to arrange your own accommodation. All utilities and internet are included in program-provided housing options. A dedicated on-site team, including a Resident Director, will greet you at the airport, support you throughout your stay, and be available 24/7 for emergencies. Mental health telehealth access, international accident and sickness insurance, and a mobile app for safety resources are all included in your program fee.

To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation and hold a minimum 2.5 GPA. The program fee of $4,750 covers tuition, an official transcript, housing, internet, cultural activities, airport reception, orientation, local team support, and international insurance. You are responsible for flights, meals (unless in a homestay), books, personal spending, and travel insurance. Financial aid and scholarships may be applicable—WorldStrides provides dedicated resources to help you explore funding options. This program is ideal for any undergraduate student looking to make a meaningful leap in Spanish fluency while immersing themselves in the culture, history, and everyday life of one of the world's great cities.
