About International Business & Brewing Industry Brand Management Program
This innovative J-Term program at Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin (HWR) offers you the unique opportunity to study international business and brand management in one of Europe's most vibrant capitals. Set in Berlin's dynamic Schöneberg district, just 20 minutes from the city center, you'll engage with cutting-edge business concepts while immersing yourself in German culture and the global brewing industry.
You'll take one specialized, English-taught course designed for advanced business students, choosing between two compelling options: "Strategy and Brand Management in the Brewing Industry" or "Consulting for Dynamic Innovation." In the brewing industry course, you'll explore the history and contemporary dynamics of global brewing, analyze competitive strategies of market leaders, examine cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and dive deep into craft beer production and niche markets. You'll also develop detailed understanding of consumer behavior toward beer brands and discover innovative approaches to brand management. The consulting course, meanwhile, introduces you to strategic management consulting through virtual preparation and on-site learning, where you'll analyze complex business problems, prepare project proposals for real clients, and explore corporate responsibility in the context of megatrends and ethical challenges.
Beyond the classroom, you'll benefit from HWR's practical, career-oriented approach and learn from both local and international faculty who bring real industry experience and global perspectives. You'll study alongside peers from around the world, fostering intercultural exchange and real-world learning. The program includes a mandatory cultural module on German culture and society, featuring virtual site visits and reflective papers that help you contemplate differences and similarities between your home culture and German culture—enriching your intercultural competence.
Your experience is fully supported by WorldStrides' experienced on-site staff and a dedicated team in Berlin. You'll receive an in-depth orientation upon arrival covering city navigation, academic culture, and your new home. Cultural activities are woven throughout your stay—from street art tours to visits to Museum Island and the Berlin Cathedral, explorations of the Berlin Wall and Brandenburg Gate, and discovery of Berlin's contemporary art and pop culture scenes. You'll have 24/7 emergency assistance, mental health support, career resources, and access to the WorldStrides Connections app for detailed activity itineraries.
Housing options include modern aparthotel or hostel-style accommodations in trendy areas near the city, where you'll share common spaces with other international students, or independent housing where you arrange your own accommodations. All utilities and internet are included (with aparthotel options), and you'll be matched with housing based on your preferences on a first-come, first-served basis. Your program fee of $3,995 covers tuition, official transcript, housing and internet, local team support, in-country orientation, international accident and sickness insurance, 24/7 emergency assistance, mental health support, and cultural activities. You'll be responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, travel insurance, and international cell phone plans—but WorldStrides provides a budgeting worksheet to help you plan.
