About J-term at WorldStrides Global Campus Program
Spend your J-term diving into liberal arts in Seville at the WorldStrides Global Campus—where orange trees line the streets, flamenco rhythms fill the air, and centuries of history come alive at every turn. This program is designed for college students who want to earn academic credits during winter break without sacrificing the richness of an international experience. Located near Seville's iconic Plaza de España and Parque de María Luisa, the campus blends traditional classroom learning with real-world application in one of Spain's most captivating cities.
You'll enroll in one English-taught liberal arts course—choosing from offerings such as Andalusia through the Arts, Cultures and Religions: Muslims, Jews, and Christians in Southern Europe, International Migration: Trends, Causes and Impacts, or Social Media and Online Communication. All courses carry 3 recommended U.S. semester credits and are taught by local WorldStrides faculty in small class sizes alongside fellow international students. Transcripts are issued by WorldStrides Higher Ed's school of record (University of Rhode Island beginning Fall 2026) and sent to your home institution approximately 2–3 months after your program ends.
Beyond the classroom, you'll explore Seville through curated cultural activities included in your program fee—think flamenco shows, museum visits to the Museo de Bellas Artes and the Flamenco Museum, a stroll through the Real Alcázar's royal gardens, and a hands-on Spanish cooking class. Optional excursions such as a guided tour of the Alhambra in Granada are available for an additional fee. An in-depth orientation upon arrival helps you navigate city life, academic culture, and your new home from day one.
Housing options include a student residence hall with double-occupancy rooms, shared bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas alongside other international students, or independent housing where you arrange your own accommodation and receive a discount on the program fee. All utilities and internet are included in the residence option. Housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis after you complete a questionnaire post-acceptance.
Your program fee covers tuition, an official transcript, cultural activities and excursions, housing and internet, airport reception, in-country orientation, international insurance, 24/7 emergency assistance, mental health support, local team support, and career resources. You are responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, and your international cell phone plan. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation and hold a minimum 2.5 GPA. This is an ideal program for students who want a meaningful, credit-bearing international experience that fits neatly into a compressed winter schedule.
