About J-Term at Yonsei University Program
Spend your J-Term in Seoul, one of Asia's most vibrant capital cities, while earning academic credit at Yonsei University, one of South Korea's most prestigious institutions and a member of the elite SKY universities. This immersive winter program allows you to experience Korean culture during one of the year's most magical seasons while maintaining academic progress toward your degree.
You'll study at Yonsei University's main campus in the Sinchon-Hongdae area, the heart of Seoul's cultural and business district. The program offers 26 English-taught courses across diverse disciplines including business, humanities, social sciences, international studies, and science. Whether you're interested in contemporary Korean cinema, digital media, international business communication, big data analysis, or Korean history and politics, you'll find courses that align with your academic interests. Unique opportunities include Korean language classes and courses focused on Korean pop culture, offering direct insight into the cultural forces shaping modern Korea.
Beyond the classroom, you'll engage in immersive cultural activities and excursions included in your program. Sample authentic Korean cuisine during a hands-on cooking class at a local market, learn taekwondo from local masters, explore Korea's historic Demilitarized Zone on a guided tour, or hit the slopes at one of Korea's premier ski resorts. An in-depth orientation upon arrival helps you navigate the city, university culture, and your new home, while experienced on-site staff provide 24/7 support throughout your stay.
You'll live in off-campus housing adjacent to campus in a fully-furnished suite with 2-3 other international students, featuring single rooms, shared kitchen and common space, in-unit laundry, and a balcony. All utilities and internet are included. The program also connects you with Yonsei's Mentor's Club, pairing you with local Korean peers to ease your transition and deepen your cultural experience, plus access to extracurricular clubs, festivals, and student organizations spanning academics, arts, and sports.
Your program fee of $4,995 covers tuition, official transcript, housing, internet, international accident and sickness insurance, cultural activities, local team support, in-country orientation, and 24/7 emergency assistance including mental health support. You'll be responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, travel insurance, and cell phone plans—but WorldStrides provides a budgeting worksheet to help you plan ahead. With a minimum 2.5 GPA and enrollment in a 2- or 4-year institution, you're eligible to transform your winter break into an unforgettable academic and cultural adventure.
