About Our Program Model Program
WorldStrides Higher Ed offers transformative study abroad programs designed to foster personal, cultural, and professional growth through immersive global experiences. Rather than a single program, this page outlines WorldStrides' comprehensive program model—a framework used across their portfolio of education abroad offerings. When you study abroad with WorldStrides, you're joining a carefully structured experience that goes far beyond traditional classroom learning.
Your journey begins with the Bridging Cultures Orientation, led by on-site staff who help you adjust to your new environment, meet peers, and understand the academic, cultural, and logistical realities of your program. You'll learn how to navigate your host university and housing, understand cultural norms and local etiquette, access health and safety resources, and get involved in your host community. This foundation sets the stage for meaningful engagement throughout your time abroad.
The program model emphasizes discovery across six key areas. You'll build intercultural competence through hands-on experiences like local market tours and regional cooking classes. You'll engage with your host country's history, architecture, and cultural heritage through walking tours, museum visits, and performances. You'll develop awareness of the sociopolitical landscape through thoughtful discussions with staff, guides, and guest lecturers. You'll explore professional and career goals using WorldStrides' Professional Development Toolbox and optional Global Professional micro-credential. You'll connect with the natural environment to build comfort and safety in your host country. And you'll embrace sustainability and social responsibility through informed lifestyle choices.
Learning at WorldStrides happens through doing. The program equips you with interactive tools including the WorldStrides Connections mobile app, which offers cultural insights, quizzes, local tips, and direct communication with on-site staff while earning points toward micro-credentials. You'll earn digital experiential learning badges by completing lessons, joining activities, and engaging locally—a goal-driven way to track your growth. You can also share your study abroad stories through blogs, videos, and social media in the Content Creator Program and earn cash while reflecting on your experience.
WorldStrides partners with globally respected universities and designs programs that integrate academic rigor with cultural immersion and holistic support. Whether you're seeking a Summer, Fall, or Spring program, you'll benefit from intentionally designed activities, local excursions, and structured support that meets you where you are—from pre-departure preparation through your return home. The program is built for students who want more than just time in another country; it's for those ready to build the confidence, perspective, and global awareness that lasts a lifetime.
