About Semester at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija Program
Spend a semester — or a full academic year — in Madrid, Spain's vibrant capital, studying at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija through WorldStrides (formerly International Studies Abroad). This program, equivalent to the former ISA 'Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Business' semester program, places you at the Madrid–Princesa campus, steps from the metro and surrounded by local housing, cafés, and the pulse of one of Europe's most dynamic cities. Whether you are drawn to business, liberal arts, STEM, communications, politics, literature, or economics, you'll find a wide range of courses taught in English or Spanish — making this program accessible to students at every Spanish language level.
Academically, you will enroll in 4–5 courses per standard semester, earning 24–30 ECTS credits (roughly 12–15 recommended U.S. semester credits). An Early Start option is also available, adding intensive Spanish coursework before the regular term begins and allowing you to earn up to 42 ECTS. All courses are offered at Universidad Nebrija alongside international and local Spanish students, with small class sizes and individualized academic guidance. Your Spanish language placement is determined by an online exam taken approximately one month before departure, with levels ranging from Beginning to Superior. Specialized options include Spanish for Business, Spanish Language Intensive, and Spanish Conversation and Culture courses.
Your program fee covers tuition and an official transcript, housing and internet, cultural activities and excursions, airport reception, an in-depth in-country orientation, international insurance, 24/7 emergency assistance, mental health support, career resources, and on-site local team support throughout your stay. You will be responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, travel insurance, and your international cell phone plan. A budgeting worksheet is provided to help you plan ahead. Housing options include apartments, homestays, student residences, or independent housing — giving you flexibility to choose the living arrangement that suits your style and budget.
Beyond the classroom, Madrid offers world-class museums like the Prado, historic neighborhoods, a legendary nightlife, and easy access to the rest of Europe. The program includes immersive excursions, cooking classes, museum tours, and trips to nearby Spanish cities. Nebrija's Buddy Program pairs you with a local Spanish student for language exchange, friendship, and navigating campus life — helping you build genuine connections and practice your Spanish in authentic, everyday contexts. Past participants describe the experience as life-changing, praising both the hands-on coursework and the tightly-knit community of fellow international students.
To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old at the time of participation and hold a minimum 2.5 GPA. The program is available for Fall Semester, Spring Semester, or a full Academic Year — with Early Start options for each term. If you are ready to deepen your Spanish, broaden your academic horizons, and immerse yourself in one of Europe's most exciting capitals, this program offers an exceptional foundation for personal and professional growth.
