About Semester at Universidad Católica de Valencia Program
If you're looking to pursue health sciences, biology, marine science, or business coursework in a dynamic European setting, the Semester at Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV) through WorldStrides offers an exceptional opportunity. Set in Valencia, Spain—one of the country's most welcoming and energetic coastal cities—this program places you at UCV's Godella campus (just outside the city center) and its centrally located City Campus, where you'll study alongside local and international students in English-taught courses led by experienced university faculty. With a strong institutional reputation in health and life sciences, UCV gives you access to cutting-edge facilities including a Simulation Hospital and marine research labs in Calpe.
Academically, you'll enroll in four courses per semester, choosing from a rich catalog of 76+ offerings spanning biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, corporate finance, community physiotherapy, marine science, Spanish language, and more. Recommended credits are 12 per semester (24 for the full academic year). If you haven't completed at least one semester of college-level Spanish, you're encouraged to enroll in a language course. For those seeking immersive, real-world application, the Study + Intern track lets you gain hands-on experience through hospital internships or service-learning placements—note that an FBI background check is required for internship participation. A Study + Veritas option is also available for faith-motivated students, combining full-time coursework with ministry service, mentorship, and a 3-credit online course through California Baptist University.
Valencia itself is a tremendous backdrop for your studies. The city blends Gothic architecture with futuristic landmarks like the City of Arts and Sciences, all set against sunny Mediterranean beaches. Included cultural activities and excursions bring the destination to life: cook traditional paella on a farm visit, cruise through the Albufera lagoon, bike through the Turia Gardens, explore Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, or take an optional trip to Morocco. An in-depth orientation upon arrival helps you settle into Spanish academic culture, city life, and your new home from day one.
Housing options include fully furnished shared apartments (with 3–5 students), homestays with host families (including meals and laundry), or independent housing for students who prefer to arrange their own accommodations. All housing includes internet, and single rooms may be available for an additional fee. Your program fee covers tuition, housing, cultural excursions, airport reception, in-country orientation, international insurance, and 24/7 emergency and mental health support. You are responsible for flights, meals, books, personal expenses, and your cell phone plan.
This program is ideal for undergraduate students aged 18 and older with a minimum 2.5 GPA who are looking to advance health science, pre-med, or business coursework in an internationally immersive environment. WorldStrides' on-site team—including Resident Director Manuel Gutierrez and Student Services coordinator María Vilar—is available throughout your stay via email, phone, or the WorldStrides Connections app to provide academic guidance, local recommendations, and emergency support whenever you need it.
