About Semester at Universidad de Sevilla Program
Spend a semester — or a full academic year — at the Universidad de Sevilla, housed in the historic Royal Tobacco Factory in the heart of downtown Seville, one of Europe's first manufacturing hubs and among Spain's most iconic buildings. This program, offered through WorldStrides (formerly International Studies Abroad/ISA), is designed for students who want to challenge themselves academically while fully immersing themselves in the culture and daily life of southern Spain. Whether you're an advanced Spanish speaker ready to take content courses entirely in Spanish, or a student looking to explore a wide range of subjects in English alongside international peers, this program offers a flexible academic structure tailored to your language level and goals.
Academically, you'll enroll in 4–5 courses per semester at the Universidad de Sevilla, taught by local faculty alongside other international students. Course offerings span a remarkable breadth of disciplines: art, history, cinema, politics, religion, economics, linguistics, literature, business, marketing, anatomy, and more. Advanced Spanish speakers can opt into the Early Start option — a two-week intensive Spanish Language (Grammar and Communicative Skills) course at the WorldStrides Global Campus in Seville before the university semester begins — provided you have completed at least four semesters of college-level Spanish. A linguistic buddy system and tandem exchange program further strengthen your Spanish through informal conversation with local students.
Beyond the classroom, Seville itself is an extraordinary backdrop for your studies. From lively plazas and labyrinthine cobblestone streets to the grandeur of the Real Alcázar and the Alhambra, the city pulses with history, art, and Andalusian culture. Curated cultural excursions and activities are included in your program fee — think hands-on cooking classes with regional ingredients, flamenco performances, guided museum visits, and weekend trips to Córdoba, Ronda, Lisbon, and even Morocco. An in-depth orientation upon arrival helps you navigate city life, academic culture, and your new home from day one.
Your program fee covers tuition and an official transcript, housing and internet, cultural activities and excursions, airport reception, in-country orientation, international insurance, 24/7 emergency assistance, mental health support, and career resources. You'll be responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, and your international cell phone plan. Housing options include off-campus apartments, homestays with local families (including three meals per day and weekly laundry), student residences, or independent housing if you prefer to arrange your own. A dedicated on-site team — including staff for student activities, academics, housing, and operations — is available throughout your program via email, phone, or the WorldStrides Connections app.
For students of faith, the Study + Veritas option combines full-time university study with ministry service, faith-focused coursework (through California Baptist University), and mentorship through Veritas Christian Study Abroad. Ministry opportunities in Seville include supporting local missionaries, serving through the local church, and engaging in refugee ministry. Whether you choose a single semester or the full academic year, this program is ideal for undergraduate students seeking a rigorous, immersive, and culturally rich experience in one of Europe's most captivating cities.
