About The Hague, Netherlands Study Abroad Program Program
Experience political and diplomatic life in The Hague, the Netherlands' vibrant capital and home to the seat of Dutch parliament, the royal family's palace, and the United Nations' International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court. This program offers you the unique opportunity to study in one of Europe's greenest cities while living among more than 100 nationalities in a place known worldwide as the "International City of Peace and Justice."
You'll pursue flexible study options through The Hague University of Applied Sciences, choosing from a diverse range of English-taught courses in law, politics, business and management, cultural and social studies, modern foreign languages, European studies, and administration. Whether you select a semester or a full academic year abroad, you'll benefit from strong academics paired with a hands-on approach to learning that includes simulations, projects, guest lectures, and field visits—giving you practical, real-world engagement with your coursework.
Beyond academics, you'll integrate into an international student community, meeting both Dutch and international peers through housing, courses, and university activities including student organizations, sports clubs, and social events. The Hague itself combines small-town charm with metropolitan sophistication, offering canal-side strolls past historic buildings, access to world-class museums like the Mauritshuis (home to Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earling"), and the vibrant culture of a truly European city. An hour's train ride connects you to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and other major Dutch cities for weekend exploration.
Although English is widely spoken, living in The Hague will immerse you in Dutch traditions, values, and perspectives on global affairs. You'll be challenged personally and intellectually, gaining firsthand insight into European history, contemporary international relations, and diverse worldviews on current global issues. This program is ideal for sophomores and above with a minimum 2.7 GPA seeking meaningful engagement with law, politics, international affairs, or business in a genuinely international setting.
