Veritas Christian Study Abroad is an inter-denominational program offered through WorldStrides that uniquely combines traditional academic study abroad with Christian mentorship, spiritual support, ministry service opportunities, and faith-focused coursework. Designed for students who want to deepen their faith while exploring the world, Veritas is available in more than 10 locations across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Pacific — with programs ranging from summer intensives to full semesters at respected universities around the globe.

As a Veritas participant, you'll enroll full-time at a host university alongside other WorldStrides students, attending regular classes in your major while also taking a unique Veritas-specific online course taught by a Christian professor. You can choose between two credit-bearing courses transcripted by California Baptist University (CBU): Comparative Religions (HUM 353), which explores major world religious traditions, or the Global Ministry Practicum (HUM 490), which equips you to engage meaningfully in international ministry through academic reflection and real-world service. Semester students earn 3 credits; summer students in the Practicum earn 1 credit.

Beyond the classroom, you'll be paired with a dedicated local Veritas Mentor who connects you with local churches and long-standing ministry partners. Ministry opportunities include serving your local church through events, worship, and outreach; supporting missionary work alongside long-term Veritas Mentors; and volunteering with local non-profit organizations. How much you serve is up to you — your mentor guides the journey, but the experience is shaped by your own calling and curiosity.

Veritas is intentionally inter-denominational and affirms the Apostle's Creed as a foundation of shared Christian belief. The program fosters holistic development — academically, spiritually, and socially — helping you process the challenges and opportunities of living out your faith in a cross-cultural context. You'll build community with fellow Christian students, local believers, and mentors who will encourage and support you throughout your time abroad.

Program fees start at $4,995 and cover the core essentials of your experience. You'll be responsible for flights, meals, books, personal spending, travel insurance, and an international cell phone plan. A budgeting worksheet is provided to help you plan.
