About WorldStrides Digital Badges Micro-Credentials Program Program
Transform your study abroad experience into recognized digital credentials with WorldStrides' micro-credentials program. Rather than a traditional study abroad program with a fixed destination, this is an add-on credential system available across WorldStrides' portfolio of study abroad programs worldwide. You'll earn digital badges that showcase real-world skills developed during your international experience—credentials that employers and graduate schools actively value.
The program offers four distinct micro-credential pathways, each designed to capture different dimensions of your growth abroad. The Wayfinder credential, requiring 80 points, targets students who actively engage culturally and explore deeply, building adaptability and cross-cultural discovery skills. The Interculturalist credential (100 points) suits humanities and social science majors interested in cultural reflection, mindfulness, and deep cultural competency. The Global Professional credential aligns with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies, transforming your abroad experience into concrete job skills and resume-building material. Choose Earth focuses on sustainability and global citizenship, drawing from United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for environmentally conscious students.
You'll access the WorldStrides Connections app, a dedicated platform that puts engagement tools at your fingertips. Throughout your program, you'll complete quizzes, participate in events, engage with in-app activities, and earn points toward your chosen badge. Most credentials involve reflection exercises, guided activities, and documentation of your experiences—whether that's cultural engagement activities, mindfulness practices, career-focused assignments, or sustainability initiatives. The program is deliberately flexible: you can enroll before departure or within your first few weeks abroad, and you'll have up to 30 days after your program ends to complete activities if needed.
What makes this particularly valuable is that these micro-credentials are included at no additional cost as part of your WorldStrides study abroad package. You'll receive a digital badge upon completion that you can immediately add to your LinkedIn profile, resume, and job applications—giving you a professional edge when interviewing or applying to graduate schools. Recent participants like Sophia T. from Hope College emphasize how the credential experience offers concrete preparation for the professional world, helping you master resume and cover letter writing, navigate networking, and position yourself strategically on platforms like LinkedIn. Your program coordinator will provide enrollment details during pre-departure orientation and support you throughout the earning process.
