About 6 Day Premium Coiba Island Expedition Program
Embark on an unforgettable 6-day kayaking and camping adventure to Coiba Island National Park in Panama, where you'll experience some of Central America's most pristine wilderness and remarkable wildlife. Based in Santa Catalina, Panama, this expedition combines multiple camp spots, diverse paddling routes, world-class snorkeling, and immersive wildlife encounters in one of the region's most biodiverse destinations.
During your five nights in Coiba National Park, you'll paddle secluded white sand beaches, explore wildlife-filled bays, and snorkel species-rich reefs teeming with turtles, sharks, rays, and parrot fish. The expedition balances adventure with education—your professional guides will teach proper kayaking techniques, share the natural history of the area, and foster cultural and environmental awareness throughout your journey. You'll visit iconic locations including the historic Penal Colony (operated until 2004 and known as the "Alcatraz of Central America"), spot scarlet macaws in their natural habitat, explore Isla Rancheria to learn about Smithsonian research initiatives, and paddle to Granito de Oro for incredible snorkeling opportunities.
What sets this program apart is its commitment to quality experiences in small groups. Your camps will be visited by capuchin monkeys, agoutis, kingfishers, hummingbirds, and herons, while you might encounter howler monkeys, black hawks, and osprey during paddling days. Beyond water-based activities, you'll enjoy hammock surfing, hiking, birding, star gazing, and beachcombing. The itinerary is thoughtfully designed to maximize wildlife encounters and skill development—Days 1-2 focus on accessing the penal colony and macaw viewing, while Days 3-5 expand your exploration to remote beaches, snorkel sites, and opportunities to refine your paddling techniques.
All camping gear, tents, thermarest pads, double and single kayaks, and professional guide services are included. Meals are provided from lunch on Day 1 through lunch on Day 6, ensuring you're well-fueled for exploration. This is a beginner-friendly program—no prior kayaking experience is required. The adventure concludes with a return to Santa Catalina on Day 6, where you can enjoy a celebratory meal at a local restaurant and reflect on your transformative experience in one of Panama's most spectacular natural areas.
This program is ideal for adventure seekers, wildlife enthusiasts, kayakers of all levels, and anyone seeking an immersive wilderness experience combined with cultural and environmental education.
