About Full Time Internship Florence Program
Spend 12 weeks interning in Florence, Italy, one of the world's most beautiful cities and the birthplace of the Renaissance. This AIFS Abroad program places you in a guaranteed internship across diverse fields—from fashion and business to architecture, communications, hospitality, and more—while earning 12 semester credits toward your degree. You'll complete 240 hours of in-person work at a top-tier international company, building real professional experience in your chosen career field.
Beyond the office, you'll immerse yourself in authentic Italian culture through language courses (from elementary to advanced level), cultural studies, and weekly activities led by AIFS staff who know Florence intimately. The program includes a day trip to medieval Siena, optional excursions to Rome and Venice, cooking classes, wine tastings, museum visits, and walking tours that reveal both iconic landmarks and hidden local gems. Your on-site Location Coordinator provides ongoing support, mentorship, and career coaching to maximize your professional development.
You'll live in a centrally located student apartment with other interns, giving you easy access to public transportation, local restaurants, shops, and the energy of one of Europe's most vibrant cities. The program fee covers tuition, housing, meals plans (optional), excursions, insurance, and a suite of pre-departure and on-site services. AIFS's award-winning Global Career Readiness Program connects your academic knowledge to professional ambitions through the CliftonStrengthsFinder assessment, interview prep, career seminars, and networking events.
Your coursework includes INTN 240: Full Time International Internship in Italy (6 credits), SOCI 360H: Italian Culture and Traditions (3 credits taught hybrid with in-person field trips), and an Italian Language course of your choice (3 credits). Credits are issued through Fairfield University and are transferable to your home institution—check with your university about applying financial aid to the program fee and counting credits toward your major.
This is ideal for first-year through graduate students seeking meaningful career experience abroad, cultural immersion, language learning, and personal growth in one of the world's most inspiring settings. The program runs Fall 2026 (September 3–November 27), with an application deadline of June 1, 2026, and includes a free Eurail Global Pass (valued at ~$500) for sustainable travel throughout Europe.
