About Full-Time Internship London – Spring Semester Program
The AIFS Abroad Full-Time Internship program in London offers you a transformative professional experience in one of the world's most dynamic cities. Over 12 weeks, you will work 32 to 40 hours per week embedded in a real London workplace, gaining hands-on career experience across a wide range of industries. Whether your interests lie in business, finance, law, marketing, journalism, computer science, theater, NGO work, sports management, or interior design, AIFS matches you with a placement that aligns with your academic background and career goals.
London's status as a global hub for finance, media, technology, and the arts makes it an unparalleled setting for professional development. Past interns have worked at law firms handling conveyancing and multilingual legal services, investment research companies, PR and communications agencies, theatrical production houses, racial equality charities, sports technology startups, fashion e-commerce platforms, and museum education departments — just a sample of the diverse employer network AIFS has cultivated across the city. Intern tasks vary by placement but consistently involve real, substantive responsibilities rather than entry-level busywork, from data analysis and Python-assisted projects to social media strategy, editorial production, legal file management, and community engagement.
Academic credit is optional but readily available. Included at no extra cost is AIFS297, a 3-credit International Internship course that pairs your workplace hours with journaling, graded reflections, and assignments, all grounded in real-world application. If you want to earn more credit, you can upgrade to AIFS299 (6 credits, $600), which includes expanded assignments, or add supplementary courses such as AIFS301: Global Leadership and Workforce Development or AIFS302: Intercultural Communications in a Global Workplace (each 3 credits, $600). Upon completion, you receive an official transcript with letter grades and credits from Fairfield University, AIFS's School of Record, which your home institution can evaluate for transfer credit.
Beyond the internship itself, you will live and navigate daily life in London, gaining intercultural competence and independence that employers increasingly seek in new graduates. The program is designed to bridge classroom learning and professional practice, helping you understand workplace culture in an international context, communicate across cultural differences, and develop the leadership skills the World Economic Forum identifies as critical for the global workforce. Student testimonials consistently highlight the program's ability to open eyes to new cultures and deliver genuinely positive, memorable experiences.
This program is ideal for undergraduate students seeking meaningful career experience abroad, particularly those who want to build a résumé that stands out, earn transferable academic credit, and immerse themselves professionally in a world-class city. AIFS's established network of London employers, combined with structured academic support and the vibrant backdrop of London life, makes this one of the most well-rounded and career-focused international internship opportunities available.
