About Iceland Adventure Program
If you're a high school student who craves off-the-beaten-path destinations, adrenaline-pumping activities, and genuine cultural immersion, Travel For Teens' Iceland Adventure is designed for you. Over 13 days, you'll embark on a full Ring Road circuit of Iceland, exploring everything from the hip capital city of Reykjavik to remote glacier lagoons, volcanic lava fields, dramatic fjords, and black sand beaches teeming with wildlife. This is not a passive sightseeing tour — it's an active, hands-on journey through one of the world's most extraordinary natural landscapes.
Your adventure begins in Reykjavik, where a local-led walking tour introduces you to Iceland's vibrant street art scene, artisan boutiques, and thriving food culture. From there, the program follows the iconic Golden Circle through Thingvellir National Park, where you'll witness the Strokkur Geyser erupting like clockwork, marvel at Gullfoss Waterfall, and have the option to snorkel the crystal-clear waters of the Silfra Fissure — the only place on Earth where you can dive between two tectonic plates. As you move along the southern coast, you'll walk behind cascading waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, stroll along Reynisfjara's famous black sand beaches, and watch thousands of puffins roosting on dramatic sea cliffs.
Heading east, you'll traverse alien-like lava fields before spending a full day at Vatnajokull, Europe's largest glacier. Strap on crampons, grab an ice pick, and climb the glacier yourself to witness stunning ice formations up close — or opt to hike the surrounding waterfall trails. That evening, the floating iceberg lagoon at Jokulsarlon awaits, where seals dart between glowing blue icebergs at dusk. You'll also ride gentle Icelandic horses with a local family, kayak through the harbor of the picturesque fishing village of Seydisfjordur to a historic shipwreck, and cruise the northern waters of Akureyri on a whale-watching expedition.
The journey concludes on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula — Iceland's "gem of the west" — where you'll hike between fishing villages, embark on a Viking Sushi cruise for the freshest seafood imaginable, and cap off the entire trip with a long soak in the world-famous Blue Lagoon hot springs back in Reykjavik. Throughout the trip, you'll stay in cozy, locally run guesthouses that offer an authentic taste of Icelandic hospitality — a far cry from generic chain hotels.
