About ORCKA Basic Level 2 or 3 Program

The ORCKA Basic Level 2 or 3 course offered by MHO Adventures is a one-day intensive canoe instruction program held in Huntsville, Ontario. Designed for paddlers who have already completed ORCKA Basic Canoeing Level 1 or hold equivalent skills, this course builds on your foundational knowledge and takes your tandem canoeing abilities to the next level in a structured, certification-focused environment.

Throughout the course day — running from 9am to 4pm — you will cover a comprehensive range of topics essential to safe and skilled tandem canoeing. These include equipment knowledge, selection and care, safe canoeing procedures, self-rescue techniques, canoe over canoe rescues, entering and exiting a canoe, balance and trim, pivots, sidewards displacement, paddling in a straight line, stopping, lifts and carries, changing positions, inside and outside turns, circles, landings, and important outdoor precautions.

Your course fee of $195 CAD + HST includes certified instructors, your ORCKA Basic Canoeing Level 2 or 3 (tandem) certification upon completion, all necessary safety gear, and canoes. This means you can arrive focused on learning without worrying about sourcing equipment. Please note that transportation to and from Huntsville, personal gear, lunch, and snacks are not included.

MHO Adventures — operating as Missinaibi & Canadian River Outfitters — specializes in canoe instruction and brings deep expertise in Canadian paddling environments. Huntsville, located in the heart of Ontario's cottage country, provides an ideal natural setting for developing real-world canoeing skills on the water. Whether you are pursuing canoe guiding credentials, personal skill development, or certification for outdoor education purposes, this course delivers hands-on, practical training in a single focused day.
