About Paddle Like a Girl' on the Spanish River Program

Join this exclusive 7-day whitewater paddling expedition on the Spanish River, a pristine 340km waterway flowing through Ontario's Canadian Shield. Designed specifically for women and offered in partnership with Paddle Like a Girl, this beginner-friendly adventure combines skill-building instruction with immersive wilderness experience. You'll start at Agnew Lake Lodge for preparation and gear checks, then board a scenic train ride into Spanish River Provincial Park, disembarking at "The Forks" to begin your 6-day journey paddling over 103km downstream.

This program is perfect for you if you're looking to challenge yourself with whitewater paddling while stepping away from everyday life. Under the guidance of professional instructors, you'll receive comprehensive whitewater instruction before tackling the river's rapids and features. Beyond paddling, you'll experience classic Canadian Shield wilderness—swimming in dark blue waters, fishing, wildlife spotting (keep an eye out for moose!), and camping under the stars.

The Spanish River holds rich natural and cultural significance, flowing through the traditional territories of the Anishinabek and Mississauga Nations. The program acknowledges this heritage and your role as a visitor to this protected Provincial Park. Your journey culminates with a return to Agnew Lake Lodge and opportunities to reflect on the experience with fellow paddlers.

Accommodations and logistics are fully supported. You'll camp at Agnew Lake Lodge your first night, then in provided tents with thermarest sleeping pads along the river. All meals from breakfast on Day 2 through lunch on Day 7 are included, along with group equipment, canoes, paddles, safety gear (PFDs, helmets, SAT phones, first aid kits), waterproof storage barrels, permits, shuttle services, and train tickets. Professional guides handle all safety and logistics, allowing you to focus on the adventure.

While this is a beginner-level program, it demands commitment and physical readiness. You're responsible for your own transportation to the Sudbury meeting point, and sleeping bags are available for rent if needed. The program establishes a WhatsApp group chat 3 months before departure to help you prepare and connect with fellow adventurers. Whether you're a solo traveler seeking empowerment, a group of friends wanting a shared challenge, or a woman looking to build paddling skills in a supportive environment, this Spanish River expedition offers transformation through outdoor adventure.
