About Study Abroad in London, England – Media and Communication Semester Program
Spend a transformative semester in London, England studying Media and Communication at the London College of Communication (LCC), one of six prestigious colleges within the University of the Arts London. This program is designed for students who want to develop critical thinking and creative design skills while exploring how emerging communication technologies shape culture and society.
You'll study under industry practitioners who bring real-world experience directly into the classroom. The curated curriculum emphasizes media communication, journalism, and brand storytelling, with special focus on how activism, social justice, and cultural movements influence the media landscape. All students take three mandatory courses exploring culture and creativity in London, three core courses on media and creative skills, and electives in journalism or social justice—totaling 12-16 credits. No prior media study is required, though you'll submit a writing sample as part of your application.
London itself is your classroom and playground. Home to over 9 million people speaking more than 300 languages, the city hosts world-class museums like the British Museum and Tate Modern, 40 West End theaters, and cutting-edge media outlets. You'll gain access to LCC's state-of-the-art facilities including an onsite newsroom, media lab, film and television studios, and creative technology hub. The program arranges cultural activities and day trips to places like Stonehenge, Oxford, Cambridge, and a 5-day Paris excursion, enriching your understanding of British culture and European heritage.
You'll live in UAL Halls of Residence—unique historic buildings like the Costume Store, a former BBC wardrobe warehouse—with other UAL degree-seeking and international students.
