About Study Abroad in London - Fashion Product Design Program
Immerse yourself in the fashion design world during a transformative semester at the University of the Arts London's prestigious London College of Fashion. Located in Kensington, one of London's most culturally vibrant areas, you'll develop advanced skills in fashion drawing, creation, technical design, and creative communication through 12-16 credits of coursework. This program is specifically designed for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are serious about pushing their creative boundaries.
At London College of Fashion, recognized globally for its specialized fashion design and product courses, you'll explore design concepts, trends, and consumer needs within contemporary cultural contexts. Through intensive projects in both 2D and 3D formats, you'll enhance your technical abilities while learning to develop innovative ideas that emphasize sustainability and ethical practices—critical considerations in today's fashion industry. Your coursework includes three mandatory shared units focused on culture and creativity in London, complemented by electives such as Draping, Corsetry, Footwear Design, Shoe Making, Menswear Design, Fashion Drawing, and Wearable Technology.
Your semester runs from January 16 to April 18, 2027, and includes housing in unique UAL Halls of Residence—often housed in historic, converted buildings like the Costume Store, a former BBC television costume warehouse. Your residence will have studio workshop space and an art gallery, providing an inspiring creative environment alongside your academic work. You'll live with other UAL degree-seeking students and visiting study abroad students, creating an international creative community.
The AIFS Abroad program fee of $26,990 is comprehensive, covering tuition, housing in a furnished en-suite bedroom shared with 4-9 students, a five-day fashion and culture field trip to Paris (customized to complement your London studies with guided walks, talks, and visits), and a rich calendar of excursions including day trips to Stonehenge and Salisbury, Cambridge, and the picturesque Cotswolds villages. You'll also benefit from 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive insurance, access to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment, an on-site Program Director, and carbon offsetting for your flights.
Beyond academics, you'll experience London's unparalleled cultural landscape: home to over 9 million people speaking more than 300 languages, with world-class museums like the British Museum and Tate Modern, 40 West End theaters, and the historic London Underground. AIFS Abroad organizes cultural activities including walking tours of Black London and Street Art, rugby and soccer matches, theater performances, ballet, traditional afternoon tea, and river cruises along the Thames. You'll be supported by experienced staff, including the AIFS Abroad London Director who is a Mental Health First Aider and deeply knowledgeable about the UK.
Note that you'll need to submit a portfolio of 5 images as part of your application. Optional add-ons include round-trip flights from 25 U.S. gateways (ranging from $1,480 to $1,760 depending on departure city) and airport transfers. The application deadline is October 15, 2026.
