About Alaska Service & Adventure Trip Program
Experience the raw beauty of Alaska's last frontier on this 11-day summer adventure designed for high school students who love the outdoors. This program combines meaningful service work with thrilling wilderness activities, taking you to some of Alaska's most stunning locations including Homer, Seward, Seldovia, and Girdwood. You'll earn up to 15 hours of community service while volunteering at a coastal field station, repairing trails in an Alaskan State Park, and working at Alaska's Wildlife Conservation Center alongside expert staff and naturalist interns on animal husbandry, maintenance, and enrichment projects. Beyond service, you'll experience world-class adventure: whitewater rafting down Class IV rapids in scenic canyons, sea kayaking in Resurrection Bay while spotting seals and exploring coastal rainforest, hiking to glacial-fed alpine lakes filled with icebergs, visiting an Iditarod sled dog training camp where you'll take dogs out on a run, and fishing in the halibut capital of the world. You'll stay in well-supervised, locally-chosen accommodations including a college dorm experience in Anchorage and yurts near Seward, and enjoy authentic Alaskan cuisine featuring fresh seafood at every turn. The program includes ground transportation, all breakfasts and dinners, expert chaperones and guides, and program activities—you'll have opportunities to stargaze and potentially witness the Northern Lights, explore the Anchorage Museum to learn about Inuit culture and Alaska's indigenous heritage, view the stunning Matanuska Glacier, and end with a celebration dinner featuring traditional Alaskan cuisine. This trip is ideal for students in grades 9-11 who want a transformative experience blending adventure, service, and authentic cultural exploration in one of America's most pristine wilderness destinations.
