About Bali Service & Adventure Program
Join the Bali Service & Adventure program and discover why Travel For Teens is consistently awarded Top Youth Travel Organization. This 13-day summer immersion combines meaningful community service, cultural exploration, and thrilling adventures across three distinct regions of Bali: Ubud, Pemuteran, and Sanur.
Your service experience begins in Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali, where you'll develop and teach creative English lessons to elementary school students—earning up to 20 hours of community service. Working in teams, you'll design lesson plans that blend traditional teaching methods, art, and games, then watch your efforts come alive as you connect with Balinese youth. Beyond the classroom, Ubud offers rich cultural immersion: participate in traditional art workshops (wood carving, Gamelan music, Balinese dance), visit sacred temples, explore vibrant markets, and even dine with a real Balinese prince at his palace followed by an authentic cultural show.
In Pemuteran, a hidden coastal gem largely untouched by mass tourism, you'll partner with the world's largest and most successful coral reef restoration project. Using innovative "biorock" technology, you'll directly support efforts to rebuild reefs that were devastated by lack of education and understanding. The project has transformed Pemuteran's underwater ecosystem—biorock reefs now stretch over half a kilometer, teeming with colorful fish and healthy coral. You'll also visit a turtle hatchery where you may have the extraordinary opportunity to release baby sea turtles into the ocean while learning about conservation efforts that support both wildlife and the local community.
Adventure saturates every day. You'll white-water raft down the Telaga Waja river, trek through West Bali National Park to spot elusive black monkeys, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, swim in a jungle waterfall, take a surf lesson in one of the world's most iconic surf destinations, and optionally try your hand at scuba diving. Yoga classes, beach time in Sanur, and meals at authentic local establishments—not chains—ensure you eat, stay, and travel like a local.
This program is ideal for high school students (grades 9-12) seeking a transformative experience that balances service impact, cultural learning, and adventure. You'll form lifelong friendships with peers from around the world while discovering that you're capable of far more than you imagined. Past participants report feeling empowered, excited about life, and grateful for a "once in a lifetime trip" that changed their perspectives on service, travel, and themselves.
