About Europe for Older Teens: Florence, Cinque Terre, Switzerland & Paris Program
Embark on a 13-day journey through three of Europe's most captivating countries on this specially designed program for older high school students and pre-university travelers. This immersive trip blends cultural exploration with outdoor adventure, taking you from the Renaissance masterpieces of Florence to the hidden gem of Cinque Terre, through the dramatic Swiss Alps, and finally to the iconic streets of Paris. You'll experience authentic European travel like a seasoned backpacker—navigating via Eurail pass, staying in centrally located boutique hotels, and moving beyond typical tourist experiences to discover how locals actually live.
Your journey begins in Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, where you'll stand before Michelangelo's David at the Accademia, explore the world-class art collection at the Uffizi Gallery, and experience the city's vibrant culture through handmade gelato tastings and sunset strolls across the iconic Ponte Vecchio. From there, you'll venture to the breathtaking Cinque Terre—five pastel-colored fishing villages clinging to dramatic Mediterranean cliffs. Stay right in the heart of Monterosso, just steps from pristine beaches, and hike the legendary trails connecting these villages while sampling fresh pesto, focaccia, and local seafood. The program has established strong relationships with local communities here, ensuring you're welcomed like family.
Next comes the Swiss Alps adventure in Interlaken, a backpacker mecca nestled between two alpine lakes. You'll take a cable car to one of Switzerland's highest restaurants for dinner with panoramic mountain views, hike through breathtaking scenery, and have the option to paraglide high above the Alps (an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience for those within weight restrictions). You'll also experience authentic Swiss culture, traditions, and of course, fondue dining. The program culminates in Paris, the City of Light, where you'll climb the Arc de Triomphe, explore the artsy Montmartre neighborhood, visit the Palace of Versailles and Marie Antoinette's gardens, marvel at Impressionist masterpieces at the Musée d'Orsay, and ascend the legendary Eiffel Tower. Local-led walking tours will reveal Paris's hidden alleyways and rich history, while you sample authentic French cuisine from crêpes to escargot at neighborhood bistros.
This program is uniquely designed to build your confidence and independence before college. You'll travel with peers from across the country, make lifelong friendships, learn essential travel skills, and push yourself outside your comfort zone through activities like cliff jumping, paragliding, and trying adventurous new foods. With experienced TFT counselors providing support at every step—from airport pickups to daily activities—you'll receive the safety net you need while gaining the independence and self-assurance that comes from navigating real travel. The tuition includes all ground transportation via Eurail pass, accommodations in carefully selected family-run hotels, all breakfasts and dinners at authentic local establishments, chaperones and guides, and all program-related activities and admissions. This is more than a tour; it's a transformative travel experience that will change how you see yourself and the world.
