About Fiji Scuba and Service Program
Experience the adventure of a lifetime in Fiji with Travel For Teens, where you'll combine adrenaline-charged scuba diving with meaningful community service and authentic cultural immersion across the stunning Yasawa Islands. Over 17 days, you'll obtain your SSI Open Water Diver certification while exploring vibrant coral reefs teeming with exotic marine life including reef sharks, manta rays, and countless fish species. Led by professional guides in paradise, you'll safely navigate some of the world's most beautiful underwater environments while learning the skills needed to dive confidently and responsibly.
Your scuba adventures are complemented by up to 15 hours of hands-on marine ecosystem maintenance work. You'll participate in coral planting, fish identification and surveying, and potentially assist with Drawaqa Island's special manta ray project while working alongside a marine biologist. This isn't just diving for fun—you're actively contributing to reef restoration and conservation efforts that protect these fragile ecosystems for future generations.
Beyond the water, you'll engage in meaningful community service at a local school on Nacula Island, where Travel For Teens has built a multi-year partnership. You'll help renovate school facilities, coordinate games with Fijian students, share stories, and form genuine bonds that often result in tears at departure. Village visits to neighboring islands allow you to connect with local families and experience authentic island life at a pace that honors Fijian culture. Throughout the program, you'll hike the Yasawa Islands for breathtaking sunrise and sunset views, sea kayak through crystal-clear waters, zip-line through jungles and caves, and relax on picture-postcard beaches.
You'll stay in rustic, locally-run resorts situated directly on the water—not Western chain hotels—carefully selected for their authentic Fijian hospitality and activity offerings. While accommodations are simple with basic facilities, they're safe, well-supervised, and naturally beautiful. On the mainland, you'll stay at a beachfront local hotel in Nadi Bay. All meals (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners) are included and feature authentic Fijian cuisine prepared by amazing local chefs. You'll sample local specialties like kokoda (fish and coconut delicacy), taro, and cassava cooked in traditional lovo earth ovens.
This program is designed for high school students (grades 9-12) from around the world who seek more than typical tourism. Travel For Teens emphasizes authentic immersion—you'll eat, stay, and travel like a local, forming deep connections with Fijian people and gaining perspectives that reshape how you view the world. Past participants consistently highlight how these trips broadened their horizons, strengthened their confidence, and provided experiences that became the highlight of their summers. Whether you're a beginner seeking certification or an already-certified diver wanting to explore Fiji's underwater world in depth, this program delivers an unforgettable combination of adventure, service, learning, and cultural connection.
