About Full Time Internship Barcelona Program
Experience a transformative internship semester in Barcelona, Spain's vibrant capital and one of Europe's most dynamic cities. This 12-week full-time internship program (January 7 – April 3, 2027) places you in a guaranteed internship across diverse professional fields including accounting, business, communications, marketing, event management, fashion, finance, hospitality, law, NGO/non-profit work, and travel/tourism. You'll develop foundational professional skills while working alongside established companies, NGOs, and agencies in one of Europe's most exciting business hubs.
The program offers optional academic credit through Fairfield University's School of Record, allowing you to earn 3 credits in an International Internship course with additional credits available for a fee. This flexibility means you can access existing financial aid and earn credit toward graduation, even if your home institution doesn't typically grant credit for internships. AIFS Abroad's award-winning Global Career Readiness Program connects your academic knowledge to professional experience through the CliftonStrengthsFinder assessment, one-on-one career coaching, interview preparation, networking events, and leadership training.
Your inclusive program fee of $10,490 covers guaranteed internship placement, housing (choose from homestay, shared apartment, or student residence), breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday, excursions and day trips, cultural and social activities, on-site support staff, 24/7 emergency support, and comprehensive health insurance. Housing options range from immersive homestays with local families to vibrant shared apartments and a modern student residence with rooftop pools overlooking the Barcelona skyline. All accommodations include internet access.
Beyond your internship, you'll explore Catalonia and Spain through included excursions and activities. The spring term includes a 3-day trip to Tarragona and the Ebro Delta Nature Reserve, plus day trips to medieval Girona, the Salvador Dalí Museum, and the stunning monastery at Montserrat. Optional excursions to Seville and Granada (3 days, ~$495) and the Basque Country (4 days, ~$745) let you deepen your cultural understanding. Weekly cultural activities—from guided city tours and cooking classes to flamenco performances and park visits—showcase both iconic Barcelona highlights like Park Güell and the Sagrada Família and authentic local experiences.
Barcelona itself is your classroom. This Mediterranean coastal city boasts world-famous beaches, exceptional cuisine, and incredible architecture including multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You'll live in a region where both Spanish and Catalan are spoken, enriching your language exposure. The city's thousands of businesses and organizations create unparalleled internship opportunities across industries. AIFS Abroad's placement team works individually with each intern, assessing your skills, career goals, and language proficiency to match you with the right employer. Once placed, you'll interview with your future manager before the offer is confirmed, ensuring a strong fit.
This program is open to first-year through graduate students currently enrolled full-time at a university.
