About Full Time Internship in Galway Program
Spend your spring semester interning in Galway, Ireland—a vibrant coastal city known as the festival capital of Ireland, hosting an average of 122 festivals and events per year. This 12-week internship program (January 10–April 4, 2027) is ideal if you're seeking an international work experience in an English-speaking environment while immersing yourself in Irish culture and exploring Europe.
You'll work full-time in your chosen career field while AIFS Abroad guarantees your placement in one of your approved professional areas. The program offers diverse internship opportunities across Marketing, Bio-Engineering, Social Services, Law, Psychology, Hospitality, Accounting, Communications, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Event Management, and many other fields. Your placement team works with you individually to understand your skills, career goals, and professional expectations, ensuring you're matched with a dynamic employer in Galway. Before your internship begins, you'll interview with your manager via phone or Zoom to confirm the placement.
Beyond your internship, you'll stay in furnished student apartments near the city center, close to public transportation and WiFi. The program includes optional academic credit (a 3-credit International Internship course through Fairfield University), access to AIFS Abroad's award-winning Global Career Readiness Program featuring the CliftonStrengthsFinder assessment, one-on-one career coaching, interview preparation, and networking events. You'll also participate in weekly cultural activities and social events, including guided walking tours of Galway, boat tours on the River Corrib, and excursions to the Aran Islands and Connemara—a dramatic landscape where you'll witness traditional sheepherding, visit 15th-century castles, and explore 3,000-year-old ring forts. An on-site Location Coordinator will support you throughout your stay with check-ins, coaching, and guidance.
The program fee of $9,990 includes housing, comprehensive health insurance, 24/7 emergency support, day trips and excursions, cultural activities, and carbon offset for your flights. Optional add-ons include round-trip flights from 25 U.S. gateways (priced by departure city, ranging from approximately $1,460–$1,920) and additional academic courses for credit. You'll receive a free Eurail Global Pass (valued near $500) to explore Europe independently. Whether you're a first-year student or a graduate, this internship helps you build professional credentials while experiencing the creativity, tradition, and natural beauty of Ireland's west coast.
