About Political Science Session 1 – English (Grenoble) Program
Study political science and international relations in Grenoble, France, one of Europe's most intellectually vibrant cities. This semester-long program through AIFS Abroad offers you flexible language and academic tracks, allowing you to customize your experience based on your French proficiency and academic goals.
You'll engage with cutting-edge courses in political science, international relations, and global affairs—all while immersed in French culture and society. Whether you choose the all-English track (requiring no prior French), the English/French mix, or the advanced French-taught track, you'll study alongside French and international students in a dynamic classroom environment. Courses cover pressing contemporary issues: economic globalization, European Union law, gender and power, environmental politics, security policy, and the role of state institutions in shaping society.
All students take mandatory courses in French language (from beginner to advanced levels), French Society and Institutions, and one module in International/Comparative Politics, then select 3–4 additional electives from offerings across history, law, international relations, and social science. You'll earn between 12–17 US credits, depending on your course load. Classes use diverse assessment methods—exams, papers, projects, and discussion—reflecting European academic standards, and grades transfer back to your home institution through AIFS Abroad's established credit-transfer system.
Grenoble, nestled in the French Alps, offers you vibrant student culture, proximity to outdoor recreation, and a thriving intellectual community. You'll live among French students, practice the language daily, and gain deep insights into French politics, history, and social values. This program is ideal if you're pursuing political science, international affairs, or European studies, and want to combine rigorous academics with meaningful cultural integration.
