About Greece: Athens & the Islands Program
Explore the birthplace of Western civilization on this 13-day summer island-hopping adventure through Greece. You'll travel from ancient Athens to the stunning Greek Islands of Paros, Naxos, and Santorini, experiencing the country's rich history, vibrant culture, and Mediterranean beauty firsthand.
Your journey begins in Athens, where you'll climb the iconic Acropolis to marvel at the Parthenon, one of the world's most spectacular ancient ruins. You'll stroll through historic neighborhoods, wander the lively Plaka district, and visit the Ancient Agora—where democracy was born. But this isn't just a museum tour; you'll learn to cook traditional Greek specialties in a private cooking lesson in Athens's culinary heart, participate in an authentic Greek coffee tasting at a local shop, and interact with hospitable locals passionate about sharing their culture.
From Athens, you'll ferry across turquoise Mediterranean waters to the islands. In Paros, you'll swim in crystal-clear waters, hike historic Byzantine roads through white-washed villages, and relax on pristine beaches. Naxos, the largest Cycladic island, reveals untouched golden sand dunes and some of Greece's best island cuisine, plus optional exploration of the tiny, off-the-beaten-path Small Cyclades islands. In Santorini, you'll experience the postcard-perfect town of Oia with its iconic blue domes and whitewashed houses, watch world-famous sunsets from the best vantage points, and have the option to try scuba diving in dramatic black sand beaches.
Throughout the program, you'll stay in centrally located, safe, family-run hotels—not impersonal chains—where you'll experience Greece like a local. Your tuition covers all accommodations, ground transportation, all breakfasts and dinners, a professional chaperone and local guides, and all program-related activities and admissions. You'll swim, snorkel, explore ancient ruins, sample local cuisine, and create memories in one of Europe's most beautiful destinations. This trip is designed for high school freshmen and sophomores seeking an authentic cultural immersion that goes beyond typical tourist experiences.
