About Greece & Portugal Explorer Program
Experience the best of two iconic European destinations on the Greece & Portugal Explorer, a 15-day immersive summer program designed for high school students seeking authentic cultural exploration and adventure. You'll journey from the birthplace of Western civilization in Greece to the vibrant Atlantic coast of Portugal, discovering ancient history, local traditions, and breathtaking natural landscapes along the way.
In Greece, your adventure begins in Athens, where you'll climb the Acropolis to see the magnificent Parthenon and explore the charming Plaka district. From there, you'll island-hop via ferry to Paros and Santorini, swimming in crystal-blue Mediterranean waters, relaxing on pristine beaches, and marveling at the iconic whitewashed villages and blue domes that make the Greek islands world-famous. You'll participate in interactive cooking classes to learn how to prepare authentic Greek specialties, enjoy traditional meals with locals passionate about their culture, and take optional scuba diving excursions. A private boat tour around Paros will reveal hidden beaches, while Santorini offers the chance to watch the world-famous sunset from the best vantage points.
Your journey then takes you to Portugal, starting in Lisbon, the vibrant capital where you'll visit San Jorge Castle for panoramic city views, taste the famous Pastéis de Nata at the original Portuguese bakery, and experience traditional fado music over authentic local cuisine. A day trip to the magical mountain town of Sintra includes climbing the Moorish Castle and exploring the Pena Palace with phenomenal Atlantic Ocean views. You'll then head to Lagos in the Algarve region, where you'll kayak through incredible rock formations and hidden grottos, relax on world-class beaches, and hike to the iconic lighthouse for stunning coastal views.
This program goes beyond typical tourism—it's designed to build your independence and confidence as you navigate each destination like a local, using public transportation and embracing the daily rhythms of Greek and Portuguese life. Expert guides weave together the history, cuisine, and arts of both countries, while small group sizes and experienced chaperones ensure your safety and well-being throughout. You'll stay in centrally located, well-supervised accommodations including hotels on the Greek islands and a beachfront resort in Lagos.
The program is inclusive and accessible: tuition covers all ground transportation, accommodations, meals (breakfasts and dinners), chaperones, guides, program activities, admissions, taxes, and tips. The company fully accommodates dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other allergies. Optional group flights from New York (JFK) to Athens and returning from Lisbon to New York are available. This is the perfect opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to develop global citizenship, build lasting friendships with peers from around the world, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
