About Hawaii Island Hopping Adventure & Service Program
Experience the magic of Hawaii across four spectacular islands—Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island—on this 21-day summer adventure designed for high school students grades 9–11. This program perfectly balances meaningful service work with thrilling outdoor adventures, allowing you to make a real impact while discovering why Hawaii is one of the world's most remarkable destinations.
Your journey begins in Oahu, where you'll learn to surf on the iconic shores of Waikiki Beach, hike through lava tunnels to the summit of Diamond Head for breathtaking coastal views, and pay respects at the USS Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor sites. From there, you'll explore Kauai—the lush "Garden Island"—sailing along the dramatic Napali Coast while watching pods of dolphins, kayaking to secret waterfalls, and discovering Waimea Canyon, often called the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." You'll also experience an adrenaline-pumping ziplining tour through pristine jungle canopy.
On Maui, you'll engage in hands-on sea turtle conservation work with a local ecology organization, tending to injured turtle patients by cleaning and bandaging wounds, taking fluids, and monitoring their recovery. This meaningful service complements beach time, snorkeling, and optional sunrise excursions to Haleakala Volcano. Your final stop, the Big Island's Kona coast, features a three-day marine biology project where you'll work directly with professional marine biologists, earning your reef instructor certification by surveying reefs, collecting ocean data, and learning reef ecology. You'll also snorkel with giant manta rays at night, hike through volcanic landscapes at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and enjoy horseback riding in the scenic Waipio Valley.
Throughout the program, you'll earn up to 30 hours of community service while working with animals, children, and marine life. The experience culminates in an authentic Hawaiian luau with traditional performances and local cuisine. All accommodations are centrally located in each city—from beachfront hotels in Waikiki and Maui to charming local towns—with chaperones, guides, and group leaders supporting you throughout. Ground transportation, meals (breakfasts and dinners), and all program activities are included, making this an all-encompassing introduction to Hawaiian culture, marine conservation, and outdoor adventure.
