About Italy Explorer Program
Experience the magic of Italy on this 8-day summer adventure designed for high school students (grades 9-12) seeking to immerse themselves in one of the world's most captivating destinations. You'll travel through some of Italy's most iconic regions—Florence, Tuscany, Montalcino, Pisa, and the breathtaking Cinque Terre—discovering the art, culture, cuisine, and natural beauty that make Italy unforgettable.
Your journey begins in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, where you'll see Michelangelo's David, climb the iconic Duomo, and explore the Uffizi Museum's world-class collection of Renaissance masterpieces. You'll shop in famous markets, visit exclusive leather shops, and challenge yourself on Travel For Teens' famous gelato tour—a student favorite. A day trip takes you to Montalcino, a stunning medieval hill town where you can wander cobblestoned streets and marvel at historic architecture.
The program's crown jewel is the Cinque Terre, one of Italy's hidden gems and the Italian Riviera. You'll stay right in the heart of Monterosso, one of the five idyllic fishing villages, just steps from pristine beaches. Hike the spectacular coastal trails connecting the towns, taking in dramatic cliff-side views, Mediterranean waters, and vineyard-covered landscapes. Along the way, sample local specialties like fresh pesto, focaccia, and seafood while relaxing on the beach.
Food is central to your experience. You'll enjoy cooking classes at a private Tuscan estate (optional add-on), learning to prepare Italian specialties from fresh, locally-harvested ingredients while touring award-winning wineries. Every meal celebrates authentic Italian cuisine—think fresh mozzarella, warm bread, homemade pasta, and prosciutto—far from tourist-trap restaurants. Travel For Teens accommodates dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free needs.
Your accommodations are carefully chosen family-run hotels in safe, central locations within walking distance of attractions—never large chain hotels on the outskirts. You'll stay near the Duomo in Florence and steps from the beach in Cinque Terre, allowing you to experience Italy as locals do. The tuition covers ground transportation, accommodation, expert chaperones and guides, all breakfasts and dinners, program activities and admissions, plus taxes and tips. This is a fully supervised, culturally-immersive program perfect for students ready to fall in love with Italy.
