About Japan Adventure Program
Experience Japan like never before on this 10-day summer adventure designed for high school students. Your journey begins in Tokyo, where you'll dive headfirst into one of the world's most vibrant and modern cities. Explore the electric streets of Akihabara with its gaming and anime culture, experience the fashion-forward energy of Harajuku, and witness the world-famous Shibuya Crossing—the busiest intersection on Earth. You'll taste authentic sushi at the Tsukiji Fish Market, try your hand at making sushi in a cooking class, and even watch a real sumo wrestling match. The cityscape, neon lights, and culinary excellence of Tokyo set the stage for an unforgettable experience.
From Tokyo, you'll travel via bullet train to Hiroshima, where history comes alive in a deeply moving way. Visit the Hiroshima Peace Museum to understand the visceral realities of war and reflect on the dangers of nuclear proliferation. This portion of the trip provides crucial historical context and a sobering perspective on global peace. Your guides will help you engage meaningfully with this important destination, and past groups have even been featured on local news for sharing their global perspectives.
Your adventure culminates in Kyoto, Japan's cultural gem, where ancient traditions meet natural beauty. Hike through the iconic Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, participate in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony to learn this ancient art firsthand, and explore thousands of stunning orange torii gates at Fushiji Inari Taisha shrine. You'll also have the chance to spot geishas and Maikos in the historic city center, visit the golden temple, wander through tranquil rock gardens, and tour the ornate 700-year-old Himeji Castle.
Throughout the program, you'll stay in safe, centrally located accommodations chosen for their ability to facilitate group supervision and proximity to attractions. In Tokyo, you'll enjoy a well-situated hotel near the metro; in Hiroshima, you'll experience a traditional ryokan; and in Kyoto, a comfortable three-star hotel in the heart of the city. All breakfasts and dinners are included and feature authentic Japanese cuisine tailored to accommodate dietary restrictions. Your tuition covers ground transportation, chaperones, guides, program activities, and admissions—so you can focus entirely on the experience.
This program is ideal for curious, open-minded high school students (grades 9–12) who want to understand Japanese culture beyond what they've encountered at home. Whether you're fascinated by anime and gaming, interested in history and peace, or simply eager to explore one of the world's most captivating countries, Japan Adventure offers an immersive, well-organized journey with expert supervision. You'll return home with unforgettable memories, a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture, and stories that will inspire your peers for years to come.
