About Study Abroad in London, England | Spring Break Program
This intensive one-week Spring Break study abroad program in London offers you the chance to earn up to 2 US semester credits while immersing yourself in one of the world's most vibrant and culturally rich cities. Based at the AIFS Global Education Center in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, you'll engage in focused coursework that transforms London itself into your classroom through embedded field trips, guest lectures from local experts, and academic visits that bring real-world context to your studies.
You can choose from four distinctive courses designed to blend academic rigor with experiential learning: Britain and the National Health Service explores the UK's NHS through visits to medical museums and conversations with health policy professionals; London Theatre: Behind the Scenes takes you backstage to meet playwrights, directors, and set designers while attending West End productions and visiting Shakespeare's Globe; Policing London examines one of the world's oldest professional police forces through courtroom observations and crime history tours; or Sociology/Criminology options that connect classroom theory to London's diverse communities and social dynamics.
Your experience extends far beyond the classroom. You'll live in a centrally located tourist-class hotel with other AIFS participants, giving you a genuine taste of London life. A London Transport travel pass is included, providing unlimited access to the iconic Underground—the world's oldest subway system—and buses that connect you to Hyde Park, the British Museum, the National Gallery, Tate Modern, and 40 West End theaters, all within walking distance or a short ride from your accommodations. The program includes a day trip to Oxford, the historic university city that has been a global center of academic excellence since the 12th century, plus organized cultural activities like sightseeing tours and group meals.
With small class sizes, dedicated on-site support from experienced staff like Program Director Heather Lees, 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive health insurance, and a full orientation to help you settle in, you'll have the resources you need to thrive. Academic credit is awarded by Fairfield University, a fully accredited Jesuit institution known for its commitment to international education, so your credits transfer seamlessly back to your home institution. The program is open to first-year through senior undergraduates with a minimum 2.5 GPA, making it accessible to students at various stages of their college careers.
Optional round-trip flights from 25 US gateways and airport transfers are available as an add-on, or you can arrange your own transportation. This program is ideal if you want to maximize your spring break with meaningful academic work, cultural immersion, and the kind of transformative experience that only studying abroad can provide. You'll return home not just with college credits, but with new perspectives shaped by London's history, culture, and energy.
