About Study Abroad in London, England – Spring Semester (Multi Discipline) Program
Spend a transformative semester in one of the world's most dynamic and culturally rich cities with AIFS Abroad's London Multi Discipline program. Based in Kensington — one of London's most prestigious neighborhoods — you will have immediate access to world-class museums, galleries, theaters, and iconic historical sites that serve as living classrooms throughout your time abroad. The program is designed for undergraduate students seeking a rigorous academic experience embedded in the fabric of British society, allowing you to earn up to 15 transferable semester credits while immersing yourself in a new culture.
The academic curriculum spans a remarkable breadth of disciplines, including art history, communications, criminal justice, environmental studies, film studies, history, psychology, sociology, political science, management, marketing, and theater. Courses such as 'London's Museums and Galleries' take you inside the British Museum, the V&A, and Tate Modern, while 'London: 2000 Years of History' guides you through Bronze Age origins to the modern metropolis via fieldtrips across the city. Classes like 'British Politics,' 'London on Film,' and 'Sport in Britain' use London itself as a primary resource, blending lectures and discussions with real-world site visits and experiential learning activities.
Each course meets for 45 contact hours per semester and carries 3 semester credits, meaning you can take four to five courses per term. All instruction is in English, and grading is based on a combination of exams, papers, projects, and class discussion — Pass/Fail options are not available. You will complete a Course Approval Form as part of your application to facilitate seamless credit transfer back to your home institution. Transcripts are issued through AIFS Abroad or Fairfield University and sent directly to your home campus approximately 60 days after program completion.
Living and studying in London exposes you to one of the most multicultural cities on earth, making it an especially powerful setting for courses in intercultural communication, cross-cultural psychology, and global food culture. You will conduct field research, attend live sporting events, visit royal palaces and parliamentary chambers, explore luxury boutiques and fashion markets, and engage with professionals across industries — all while building a deep appreciation for British society and your own cultural identity in relation to it.
This program is ideal for curious, motivated undergraduates who want to go beyond the classroom and experience academic life in a global city. Whether your interests lie in the arts, social sciences, humanities, business, or environmental studies, the Multi Discipline format gives you the flexibility to craft a course load that supports your home degree requirements. Former participants from institutions like Western Michigan University and Chatham College describe the program as life-changing, praising the quality of support, the richness of the experience, and the lifelong friendships formed along the way.
