About Study Abroad in Seville, Spain - Universidad de Sevilla Spring Program
Immerse yourself in Spanish culture and academic excellence by spending a semester or academic year in Seville, one of Spain's most captivating cities. You'll study at Universidad de Sevilla, a cosmopolitan institution of over 70,000 students located in the heart of the city, offering cutting-edge programs that bridge traditional Spanish heritage with modern global perspectives.
AIFS Abroad offers two distinct academic tracks tailored to your Spanish proficiency. If you're new to Spanish or have minimal language background, the Contemporary Hispanic Studies program teaches courses in English while offering beginner Spanish instruction to build your conversational skills. You'll explore Spanish culture through courses in history, music, art history, geography, and international relations. For students with advanced Spanish (at least three semesters of college-level study), the Hispanic Studies Plus program deepens your language skills with advanced and superior-level courses taught in Spanish, covering topics like art, film, economics, literature, anthropology, politics, and more. Both programs allow you to take up to 15 semester credits across five courses, each worth a recommended 3 U.S. credits.
Your housing experience brings authentic cultural immersion. Choose between living with a Spanish host family—where you'll receive three meals daily and benefit from daily language practice—or reside in a modern student apartment within a university residence featuring gym facilities, a swimming pool, restaurant, and 24/7 security. All housing includes internet access. Your program fee covers tuition, housing, meals (if homestay), excursions, and cultural activities, plus 24/7 emergency support and comprehensive insurance. You'll participate in a rich cultural calendar including guided tours of iconic sites like the Cathedral and Giralda Tower, Real Alcázar (Royal Palace), flamenco shows, and explorations of Seville's historic Barrio Santa Cruz and the birthplace of flamenco in Triana. Spring students may experience Semana Santa processions and the festive Feria de Abril.
Beyond Seville, included excursions take you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Granada and Córdoba—the stunning Alhambra Palace, Generalife Gardens, and the Mosque-Cathedral of La Mezquita—plus a day trip to the ancient port city of Cádiz. Optional three-day excursions let you explore Lisbon and Sintra in Portugal or northern Morocco's picturesque cities of Tangier, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, and Asilah. You'll also have opportunities to practice Spanish through conversation exchanges (intercambios) with native speakers, join university clubs in drama, dance, and sports, and pursue unpaid work experience internships with local companies and institutions that award certificates upon completion.
AIFS Abroad provides comprehensive support throughout your journey. Your on-site Program Director helps with academic advising and community integration. Pre-departure orientation, cultural resources, and post-return alumni network access ensure you're prepared before you go and connected long after you return. The program includes carbon offsetting for all participants' flights as part of AIFS Abroad's green initiative. An optional travel package offering round-trip flights from 25 U.S. gateways and airport transfers is available, with pricing from approximately $1,800 to $2,140 depending on your departure city. With rolling admissions and acceptance confirmation within 2 working days, you can quickly secure your place in this transformative Spanish experience.
