About Study Abroad in Valencia, Spain - Universidad Católica de Valencia Spring Program
Immerse yourself in one of Spain's most dynamic Mediterranean cities with AIFS Abroad's semester program at Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV). Based in the heart of Valencia, you'll spend January through May 2027 taking 12 semester credits (4 courses at 3 credits each) from a wide range of offerings across Spanish language, humanities, health sciences, and natural sciences. The program is designed for students at all Spanish language levels—from complete beginners to advanced speakers—allowing you to either deepen your language skills or explore English-taught electives alongside Spanish courses.
Valencia itself is your classroom beyond the university. Known for its stunning architecture blending historic and modern design, the city offers 300+ days of sunshine annually, vibrant cultural festivals (including the famous Las Fallas in spring), and unique natural attractions like the Albufera wetlands—one of Europe's most important ecosystems. You'll discover centuries-old silk exchanges, world-class museums, and the innovative City of Arts and Sciences complex. The city is surrounded by farmland famous for paella production and citrus cultivation, giving you authentic insight into Valencian agriculture and culinary traditions.
Your housing options include a homestay (the most immersive choice, offering 3 daily meals and daily language practice with native speakers) or a shared apartment with other AIFS students in central locations near campus. Internet is included in all housing. The $16,290 inclusive program fee covers tuition, housing, meals (for homestay), excursions, cultural activities, 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive insurance, and access to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment and AIFS alumni network.
Included excursions take you beyond Valencia: a 3-day trip to Madrid featuring the Prado Museum and iconic plazas; day trips to a sustainable organic vineyard in Peniscola and the Albufera National Park where you'll learn traditional paella-making. Optional excursions include a 3-day Granada experience ($585) exploring the Alhambra palace and flamenco culture. Weekly cultural activities and social events—led by expert local staff—introduce you to authentic Spanish life, from paella cooking classes and city tours to visits to UNESCO sites and markets. You'll also have access to volunteer placements with NGOs, internships, and a Buddy Program (intercambio) to practice Spanish with native speakers.
The program is ideal if you want personal growth through cultural immersion, flexible academic options across multiple disciplines, and the support of a dedicated on-site Program Director (Janan Batteh, a 20-year Valencia resident). Whether you're majoring in business, biology, psychology, art history, or any of 30+ fields listed, you can customize your courses and even add a fifth course for $945. Rolling admissions means you could receive acceptance within 2 business days of completing your application. Optional round-trip flights from 25 U.S. cities (starting at $1,680 from New York) are available, plus the free Eurail Global Pass promotion adds significant travel value.
