About Study and Intern Abroad in London, England – Spring 2027 Program

Spend a transformative semester in London, one of the world's most dynamic and culturally rich cities, where you'll combine rigorous academic coursework with real-world professional experience. This program, administered by AIFS Abroad in partnership with Fairfield University, is designed for undergraduate students (sophomores, juniors, and seniors) who want to deepen their understanding of British culture, history, and politics while gaining practical skills in their chosen field.

You'll study at the AIFS Abroad Global Education Center, located in the prestigious Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea—an area walking distance from iconic institutions like the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Hyde Park. The program offers three distinct academic tracks: the Multi Discipline program (four to five 3-credit courses across disciplines like arts, business, fashion, and humanities); the London Honors Experience (a research-focused track with an Honors Inquiry Seminar, required British Life and Culture course, and electives culminating in a research proposal presentation); and the Study + Internship program (two courses plus a 6-credit or 3-credit internship placement). All courses emphasize experiential learning and field trips that bring British life, business, history, and culture to life.

Beyond the classroom, you'll be embedded in London's vibrant community through carefully curated cultural and social activities, including guided walking tours (food, fashion, LGBTQI+, street art), West End theater performances, visits to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, market explorations, and afternoon tea experiences. The program includes three to four excursions—such as Stonehenge and Salisbury, the picturesque Cotswolds villages, historic Cambridge, or a three-day Scottish Highlands tour—that deepen your understanding of English heritage and landscape.

Comprehensive support is built into every aspect of the program. You'll live in student residences (with shared kitchen and common areas) near the AIFS Global Education Center, equipped with internet access. A London Transport travel pass is included, giving you unlimited access to the city's legendary Underground. On-site staff, including the Program Director and Student Advisors, provide one-on-one academic and personal support, visa guidance, and mental health resources. Pre-departure orientation, 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive insurance, and access to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment prepare you for success. If you pursue the internship track, you'll gain exposure to London's thriving industries—finance, fashion, media, and beyond—through part-time placements individually tailored to your career goals, plus seminars and workshops on professional development.

This program is ideal if you want to challenge yourself academically in a new context, test a potential career path in an international workplace, immerse yourself in British culture, and develop the cross-cultural competencies employers value. Whether you're exploring research methodologies at a museum or archive, building professional networks in your field, or simply discovering how you thrive in a global city, a semester in London will expand your perspective and equip you with skills that last a lifetime.
