About Study + Internship in Dublin, Ireland Program

Spend a transformative spring semester in Dublin, Ireland, where you'll balance rigorous academic coursework with hands-on professional experience through an integrated internship program. This Study + Internship program, offered through AIFS Abroad and Dublin City University (DCU), gives you the unique opportunity to study alongside local students while gaining practical workplace experience in fields including accounting, business, communications, engineering, finance, graphic design, IT, law, marketing, and psychology. You'll select three or four courses (9-12 credits) from DCU's diverse offerings across humanities, business, engineering, science, health sciences, and education, then supplement your studies with a 3-credit internship placement in your field of interest for a total of up to 15 semester credits.

Dublin City University stands out as the world's first designated autism-friendly university, with comprehensive support services, sensory rooms, and quiet spaces across campus—making it an exceptionally inclusive learning environment. The university is ranked 12th globally for sustainability, recognized in the top 50 universities under 50 years old, and particularly renowned for business education (top 5% globally). As you study, you'll have access to modern libraries, award-winning sports facilities including a 25-meter swimming pool and high-performance gym, over 150 clubs and societies, a brand-new student center with an entrepreneurship hub, and the Helix National Theatre.

Your internship placement provides invaluable professional development, allowing you to test potential career paths, gain insight into working life in Ireland, develop practical skills, and understand how your field operates in a multicultural, global context. Working alongside Irish professionals, you'll gain exposure to different approaches to business and prepare yourself for the realities of an interdependent global workforce. The internship credit is awarded by Fairfield University, ensuring your experience translates to recognized academic credit.

Dublin itself is a vibrant, youthful capital with unparalleled charm. Over half of Ireland's population is under 30, and Dublin has more green spaces per square kilometer than any other European capital—97% of residents live within 300 meters of a park. You'll stay in on-campus student apartments with single en-suite rooms, shared kitchens and living areas, and included internet access. A €100-loaded transportation pass gives you access to trains, the LUAS, and buses throughout the semester. Your program fee covers orientation, a 2-night Galway excursion with visits to the Burren and Cliffs of Moher, an Irish farm experience where you'll make soda bread and learn traditional crafts, extensive cultural and social activities organized by AIFS staff, 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive insurance, and access to professional development resources like the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment.

The program runs January 4–May 2, 2027, and is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Application deadline is October 1, 2026, with rolling admissions (expect acceptance confirmation within 2 business days of completing requirements). An optional travel package provides round-trip flights from 25 U.S. gateways and airport transfers, with costs varying by departure city ($1,420–$1,840). Whether you're exploring a career direction, building your resume with international experience, or seeking personal growth through immersion in Irish culture, this program offers the perfect blend of academic rigor, professional development, and authentic cultural engagement.
