About Study + Internship in San Jose, Costa Rica - Veritas University Fall Program
Spend a transformative semester or academic year in San José, Costa Rica's vibrant capital, studying at Universidad LCI Veritas, one of Latin America's most respected universities. This AIFS Abroad program immerses you in Spanish language learning while offering flexibility to explore academic interests across art, architecture, business, communications, economics, environmental sciences, health, history, literature, marketing, photography, politics, psychology, tropical ecology, and marine biology. You'll live with a local host family—a cornerstone experience that accelerates your Spanish acquisition and provides authentic cultural integration. The program accommodates all Spanish proficiency levels from Beginner through Advanced, with intensive 4-week language blocks (15 hours weekly) taught in small classes, plus afternoon electives in English or Spanish depending on your level. If you're seeking professional experience alongside academics, the Internship Program offers 4–16 week placements in fields like business, education, social work, international relations, digital fabrication, biomolecular research, and conservation—with 30+ hours weekly engagement earning 3–12 credits. Three included multi-day excursions take you beyond San José: hike Manuel Antonio National Park's beaches and wildlife, explore Arenal Volcano and the Monteverde Cloud Forest with hot springs, and visit Poás Volcano plus a coffee plantation and artisan towns. Additional optional adventures include Sarapiquí rafting, hiking, and chocolate-making. Your program fee covers tuition (up to 19 credits), homestay housing with meals, excursions, 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive insurance, weekly cultural activities (cooking classes, dance lessons, museum visits, indigenous reserves), and access to a dedicated AIFS Abroad director and academic advisors. Costa Rica itself—the destination—offers tremendous biodiversity, stunning landscapes, and a culture centered on 'pura vida' (pure life); the country leads in clean energy production and maintains remarkable environmental commitment. You'll earn 13–19 semester credits depending on your program track, with optional housing internet included and volunteer opportunities available with local children, elderly residents, and social projects. This is an experience designed not just for academic credit but for genuine personal growth, professional skill-building, and deep cultural understanding.
