About Study + Internship | London Program
If you're looking to combine meaningful academic study with hands-on professional experience, the AIFS Abroad Study + Internship program in London offers an unmatched semester abroad. Based at the AIFS Global Education Center in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea — within walking distance of Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, the Natural History Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum — you'll learn in one of the most prestigious and culturally rich neighborhoods in the world. The Spring 2027 program runs from January 22 to April 23, 2027, giving you a full semester to immerse yourself in London's academic and professional landscape.
The Study + Internship track is designed for students who want more than just classroom learning. You'll take two 3-credit courses from the regular academic offering, plus the required HIST/SOC 335 British Life and Culture (3 credits), and a 3-credit internship placement in your chosen field — earning up to 12 semester credits. You'll also enroll in INTN 310 International Internship in London, which includes 15 contact hours of professional development seminars and workshops, plus 90–135 hours of supervised, unpaid work placement. Academic credit is awarded by Fairfield University, a fully accredited Jesuit institution and AIFS Abroad's school of record partner since 2020. Courses are available across a wide range of disciplines including Business, Art History, Political Science, Sociology, Fashion, Film Studies, Creative Writing, and more.
London is a global center of finance, fashion, media, and culture, making it one of the world's most dynamic cities for internship placements. Your placement is individually tailored to your career interests and strengths, giving you direct exposure to the demands of your chosen field while working side by side with local professionals. This international work experience is an invaluable complement to your academic record, helping you test potential career paths and develop both professional and personal skills in a truly global workplace.
All program fees include residence hall housing with internet access, a London Transport travel pass, included excursions (such as Stonehenge & Salisbury and the Cotswolds Villages in spring), cultural and social activities organized by on-site AIFS staff, 24/7 emergency support, comprehensive insurance, and access to the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment and alumni network. Cultural programming includes guided walking tours, West End theater performances, museum visits, sporting events, market tours, boat trips on the Thames, and themed weeks focused on wellness, sustainability, and community engagement. Optional excursions include a 3-day guided tour of the Scottish Highlands ($745 estimated).
You'll be supported throughout your semester by an experienced on-site Program Director and Student Advisors who provide academic guidance, personal support, and help you integrate into London life. The program is open to First Year, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Note that a student visa is required for this program, and AIFS Abroad will provide instructions and support to help you obtain it after your final payment is received. A scholarship deadline of October 1, 2026 and an application deadline of October 15, 2026 apply for Spring 2027.
