About Ultimate Nordic Adventure: Scandinavia and Iceland Program
Embark on an epic 27-day journey through Scandinavia and Iceland, combining vibrant urban exploration with raw outdoor adventure. This program is designed for high school students who crave a perfect balance of cultural immersion and adrenaline-pumping activities across five Nordic countries.
Your Scandinavian adventure begins in Bergen, Norway, where you'll explore the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf and hike to the top of Mt. Floyen. From there, you'll tackle an unforgettable glacier hike on Juklavass Glacier, then head to Voss for extreme sports including whitewater rafting down the Class 3-4 rapids of the Stranda River and a high ropes course. You'll stargazer at lakeside accommodations on beautiful Lake Vangsvatnet before continuing to Oslo, where you'll cruise the fjords, visit world-class museums dedicated to Nordic exploration, and discover trendy neighborhoods. In Copenhagen, you'll bike like a local through Europe's "greenest" city, swim at Islands Brygge, taste authentic Smørrebrød at famous food halls, and spend an enchanting evening at Tivoli Gardens. Stockholm showcases Medieval Gamla Stan, the Vasa Museum, and Skansen open-air museum, while Helsinki concludes your Scandinavian leg with traditional sauna experiences, ghost tours, and exploration of the world's most livable city.
The second half takes you to Iceland for an unforgettable ring-road adventure. You'll experience the Golden Circle's natural wonders—Thingvellir National Park, the Strokkur Geyser (erupting every 10 minutes), and geothermal hot springs. Optional activities include snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates separate, and glacier walking on Vatnajokull, Europe's largest glacier, with the option to put on crampons and ice-pick your way to the summit. You'll witness massive waterfalls at every turn—Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Godafoss, and Dettifoss—walk across black sand beaches teeming with puffins, kayak out to a shipwreck in the fishing village of Seydisfjordur, and ride gentle Icelandic horses through the Eastfjords.
As you continue east, you'll explore otherworldly lava fields, relax in the mineral-rich Nature Baths at Lake Myvatn, visit turf-built historic homes, and embark on a whale-watching cruise in northern Iceland's rich marine waters. The Snaefellsnes Peninsula—called the "gem of the west"—offers geological variety with caves, craters, and mountains around every corner, plus a Viking Sushi cruise where seafood is pulled fresh from the ocean. Your final days include soaking in the famous Blue Lagoon and a celebratory dinner at a top-rated Icelandic restaurant in Reykjavik.
Accommodations throughout Scandinavia are centrally located, modern hotels within walking distance of main attractions. In Iceland, you'll stay in family-run guesthouses and hostels with authentic local character and cozy atmosphere. All meals (breakfasts and dinners) are included, featuring authentic local cuisine from fresh seafood to New Nordic specialties, with full accommodation for dietary restrictions. The program includes ground transportation, chaperones, guides, all program-related activities and admissions, taxes, and tips. This is the ultimate teen adventure for students finishing grades 9-12 who want to experience the majesty of Nordic nature, the charm of historic European cities, and the raw beauty of Iceland—all in one transformative summer.
